I built a studio and nobody came

Hey there,

I released a video last week that documents the move from my home studio to my new studio space. 20 miles north to the downtown square of Denton, TX.

Near the end of the video I share, after a particularly exhausting day of studio setup, that what this place needs most is people and music.

In the month of August I made music with people for 4 hours on a single afternoon.

I worked. I worked too much. My obligations didn't stop. Somerville Sounds is prepping for a big release on Wednesday, September 9th. Our most requested library to date.

I can cut myself slack for bad timing. My excuses are good. I'm fortunate to have obligations.

But to quote myself (weird), "If I'm just showing up, driving to work on my computer, and maybe going to lunch at a cool place by myself... what's the point?"

I love it when cool stuff happens organically. My experience is that most of the cool stuff I've been a part of that felt easy and organic was actually the hard work of someone who wanted a thing to happen bad enough that they willed it into existence.

Do I have it in me to be the guy who wills community and human interaction into existence? We'll find out soon enough. I want to build a thing that's been spinning around in my head for a decade. I'm in phase 1. Will keep you updated.
